Window Awnings
You may have your reasons to be on the lookout for window awnings. Although these are used to keep the sun out and provide shade, keeping in line with their technical use, most people also use them to add a distinct look to their homes. However when we discuss window awnings, we are looking at things both from a home and business perspective.
Window awnings can be either fixed or removable with the latter being most suitable for areas where the climates vary. Where the sun is up and shining on most days of the year, you could be quite content with window awnings that are pretty much fixed. However if the climate varies with sunny summers and snow heavy winters, you could consider a version that is easily removable so you can extend its life by putting it away when the weather gets a bit too vicious. Detachable versions which are also widely available are yet another solution that allows you to have the functionality of window awnings coupled with the flexibility of adjusting them. Window awnings like most similar products come with a variety of choice when it comes to the material. Common versions include plastic and canvas. Nylons and acrylic are also widely used. However what you pick must be in line with the kind of look and feel you are after. If it is for a café or a home window then nothing beats the quaint and homely feel offered by canvas based window awnings. However these are also difficult to maintain and as such you may need to look at alternatives. Therefore the kind of cover material needs to be thought of in tandem with your specific requirements.
Once you have thought about all these you need to then focus on the main types of window awnings that are available. The ‘sun-catcher’ design for instance gives a particular European flair and is ideal to provide shade and moderate temperature indoors. The dome version on the other hand is shaped for a more concave enclosure and offer shades from both sides and front and are ideally suited for restaurant windows. The latter style is more decorative than functional. Then of course there is the spear design which is ideally suited for architectural homes and feature four projections. In addition to these three designs and the more commonly available canvas based window awnings we mentioned before, you can also find window awnings made of metal. These particular designs are meant for harsh weather that may include hailstones and as such are designed and developed to withstand the onslaught of a hailstorm. The prices for each of these will vary from one another, and from size to quality of materials used.
